Got up the next morning, 28th, and rode to Lake Tota to do some fishing. A couple years ago I had heard the lake had some great trout fishing and I have been wanting to give it a try. It's Colombia's largest lake and it sits at just under 10,000 ft.

This little girls parents and others were picking peas where I stopped and she kept working her way closer to me. I looked at her mother and showed my camera and she signaled it would be ok. The little girl wanted to have her photo taken, she was just very shy. I showed her the photo and she ran back to the adults to tell them all about it.

I rode into the village of Aquitania and found a place to stay in the center. Not much going on here, they grow a lot of onions here and everything smells of them. The village is at 10,100 ft. and it's cold. I was told by a few locals that it's cold here all year, in the 50's.

Went fishing for two hours the first evening, and then went out again early the next morning, nothing. I like fishing but only if I'm catching fish. Whoever told me there was great fishing here was full of it.
There are quite a few fish farms on the lake and they also commercially fish it using drift nets. Every restaurant in the area advertises trout on the menu.

30 September 13:
Woke up early and decided to work my way towards Solento. The best route was back towards Bogota and take Rt 50 west. Pretty uneventful day riding. I got delayed for about two hours just west of Bogota due to a bike race going on. Once I got on Rt 50 I started thinking I made a mistake. It's a two lane twisted mountain road climbing into the mountains, under construction, and a main trucking route. I've never seen that many trucks on one road in my life. I had about an hour of light left when I made it to the town of Honda. I stopped on a side street just to get my bearings and a lady approached me and said she had parking for the moto and I should stay here. I didn't even realize I was in front of a hotel.
The owners had some young ones running around and we took some photos and they gave me spanish lessons. The father was doing some painting and I asked one of the girls if I could paint her hand so she could make a print on my pannier. The folks said it would be ok so we painted. We had a good time!
