Having a little trouble getting photo's to upload into Picasa. It requires a good internet connection and I'm finding that a bit difficult to find. Making blog entries has been the most challenging part of the trip so far.
Excuse the mix of past, present or future tense mixed together.

Departed Puerto Escondido for Oaxaca on Rt 131. AN excellent road for motorcycles. Twisty mountain road that climbs to 7,200'. The roads in great shape and there weren't to many animals, rocks and people to deal with. Due to smoke and humidity, there wasn't much visibility, there would be some great views of the mountains otherwise. A guy was telling me they are doing a lot burning because the rains haven't come and they need to get rid of the dry stuff. Incredible how many fires there all though he mountains.
The reason for coming to Oaxaca was to visit Monte Alban. I arrived later than what I had expected and didn't spend as much time as I wanted. I walked around for about an hour and was impressed at how big and well kept the place is. Of course I didn't hire a guide and I didn't do any internet research so I'm not sure not sure what the complete history is. It was interesting though and it would have been nice to get there in the morning and have more time, (3 photo's.).

I went to Mitla and visited an old church and a place where they make mezcal (10 photo's). Mezcal is made the same way moonshine is actually, a still is a still. A guy was explaining about the process and then showed me a bottle of the finished product. He shook the bottle to show me the bubbles. I had to laugh, my moonshiner friend in Blackstone, VA showed me that. This region is famous for it's mezcal and there seems to be stills in everyones yard. I saw a few chocolate shops, grinding cocoa beans so I guess the region is big on that as well. I didn't see any cocoa growing though. I asked but with the language barrier everyone just tried to sell me something dealing with chocolate.

Headed for Puerto Arista for the night. RT 190 is a nice ride and I just picked a place on the coast that looked interesting. Stopped for water and there was a women that had a pet squirrel she let me hold, very friendly. The lady cooking was preparing two roasted iguana's. They look big running across the road but gutted and roasted, ain't much there. I would have liked to try some but It was for someone else, they'll be more.
Stopped at a nice road side cafe' for lunch (2 photo's).

Not much happening in Puerto Arista. There was a small shop at the hotel I stayed at and a few people where sitting around drinking beer and some playing cards, 7 people total, so I just hung out with them and practiced some spanish. It seemed to be the most happening spot in town and I think I could see most of it.

Headed north to the east coast taking a few side roads. ending up in Macultepec, Tobasco. It was a nice ride, went through a lot of nice villages and spent a lot of time trying to speak with people. Once I arrived in Macultepec it started storming an hour later.

The ride along the coast to Champton was real nice. Overcast day with a breeze and ocean view. Stopped and had a shrimp cocktail for lunch. I met a F800 fully loaded heading int the opposite direction, quick wave.
Staying in Champton at the hotel Paraiso Beach, short riding day. It's a nice place with internet and I was hoping to make some blog entries, but so far the internet isn't being supportive.
